CLTAX

Council Tax is a local taxation system in England based on property valuation bands, collected by local authorities to fund services including waste collection, libraries, and emergency services. The tax applies to residential properties, with liability typically falling on occupiers or owners, and certain exemptions and discounts available for students, single occupants, and unoccupied properties. Primary guidance is published by MHCLG (now the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities), local councils, and legislation.gov.uk through the Local Government Finance Act 1992 and subsequent amendments. Watchdog HQ monitors changes to CLTAX weekly.
