Energy Performance Certificates

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a legally required document that rates the energy efficiency of a property on a scale from A to G and must be provided when a property is built, sold, or rented. The requirement is governed by The Energy Performance of Buildings (England and Wales) Regulations 2012, with updates published on legislation.gov.uk and guidance issued by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (formerly part of MHCLG). Enforcement is carried out by local authority trading standards teams. Watchdog HQ monitors changes to EPC weekly.
