HMLR

HM Land Registry (HMLR) is the non-ministerial government department responsible for registering ownership of land and property in England and Wales. It maintains the Land Register, processes applications for registration of sales, transfers, mortgages, and leases, and provides official copies of title documents and search services to conveyancers, estate agents, and the public. Updates to land registration rules and fees are published by HMLR itself, with overarching policy direction from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (formerly MHCLG), and statutory provisions set out through legislation.gov.uk. Watchdog HQ monitors changes to HMLR weekly.
