LHR

The Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) Regulations, commonly known as LHR, set out mandatory licensing requirements for certain residential properties occupied by multiple households sharing facilities. Properties with five or more occupants from two or more households typically require a licence from the local housing authority before they can be lawfully let. Updates and guidance are primarily issued by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), local councils under their statutory enforcement powers, and legislation.gov.uk which publishes amendments to the Housing Act 2004 and related statutory instruments. Watchdog HQ monitors changes to LHR weekly.
